Het verhaal van: Asim Muhammad
Sinds maart 2025 versterkt Asim Muhammad (37) het team van De Waal Kozijnen. Geboren in Pakistan, woonde hij eerder in Londen en Portugal voordat hij zich via een uitzendbureau in Nederland vestigde. Inmiddels woont hij in Breda en werkt hij met veel plezier in onze fabriek. “Nederland is rustig, welvarend en… overal lekker vlak,” lacht Asim. “En die kanalen? Prachtig.”
Van Londen naar Breda
In Londen leert Asim de fijne kneepjes van het werken in de automotive-sector. Die ervaring neemt hij mee naar Portugal, waar hij jarenlang in dezelfde branche actief is. Uiteindelijk leidt zijn pad via een uitzendbureau naar Nederland. “Ik ben hier gekomen om te werken en een nieuw leven op te bouwen. Ik voel me hier goed – de mensen zijn vriendelijk, dat is niet overal vanzelfsprekend.”
Zijn vrouw woont momenteel nog in Pakistan, maar Asim hoopt dat ze op termijn naar Nederland kan komen. “Dat zou voor mij alles compleet maken. Ik wil hier écht iets opbouwen.”
Allround inzetbaar
Binnen De Waal Kozijnen is Asim een echte allrounder. Je vindt hem vaak in de afmontage, maar ook bij het voorbereiden van het spuitwerk: schuren, stoppen en andere voorbereidende taken. Dat alles in de fabriek waar de houten kozijnen, ramen en deuren worden gemaakt. “Ik leer hier elke dag iets bij. Het werk is afwisselend en ik krijg de ruimte om me te ontwikkelen.”
Die leergierigheid beperkt zich niet tot zijn huidige werkzaamheden. Asim heeft ook interesse in andere delen van het bedrijf: “Ik wil in de toekomst graag meer leren, bijvoorbeeld in het magazijn. Overal waar ik iets nieuws kan leren, wil ik bijspringen.”
Een plek om te blijven
Wat Asim vooral waardeert, is de sfeer binnen het team: “Ik ben hier heel goed ontvangen. Iedereen is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Dat maakt dat ik hier echt wil blijven werken.”

Since March 2025, Asim Muhammad (37) has been part of the team at De Waal Kozijnen. Born in Pakistan, he previously lived in London and Portugal before settling in the Netherlands through an employment agency. He now lives in Breda and enjoys working in our factory. “The Netherlands is peaceful, prosperous, and… wonderfully flat,” Asim says with a smile. “And the canals? Absolutely beautiful.”
From London to Breda
Asim learned the ins and outs of the automotive sector while living in London. He brought that experience with him to Portugal, where he worked in the same industry for many years. Eventually, his journey led him to the Netherlands. “I came here to work and build a new life. I feel good here — people are friendly, and that’s not something you can take for granted.”
His wife currently still lives in Pakistan, but Asim hopes she will be able to join him in the near future. “That would make everything complete. I truly want to build something here.”
A true all-rounder
At De Waal Kozijnen, Asim is a real all-rounder. You’ll often find him in the final assembly area, but he also helps prepare for paintwork — sanding, filling, and other prep tasks. All this takes place in the factory where wooden frames, windows, and doors are made. “I learn something new every day. The work is varied, and I’m given the opportunity to grow.”
His eagerness to learn goes beyond his current role. Asim is also curious about other parts of the company: “In the future, I’d love to learn more — for example, in the warehouse. I’m happy to jump in anywhere I can expand my skills.”
A place to stay
What Asim values most is the atmosphere within the team: “I was warmly welcomed here. Everyone is friendly and helpful. That’s why I really want to stay and continue working at De Waal.”
